Welcome to the A to Z English podcast.
My name is Jack, and I am one of the hosts of the podcast.
My partner, Sochil, is not here right now, so this is a solo episode.
However, Sochil and I would like to just say a thanks to our chinese listeners out there.
Recently, in the looking at the analytics of the podcast, I've noticed that we've got a lot of chinese listeners, and I know that in China, ESL English, or EFL English as a foreign language is very popular, and a lot of students there are learning English.
And so I thought I'd do a little special episode here just for, for everybody, but related to chinese proverbs, and there are actually lots of chinese proverbs that we have translated to English and that we use in everyday English.
You know, we don't use them necessarily all the time, but we, from time to time, will use a.
A proverb, a chinese proverb, and they come in very handy and they're very useful.
So the first one that I want to define is, sometimes we say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
I'll say it again, a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.
And what this means is every big accomplishment starts with a small effort or a first step.
It emphasizes the importance of taking the initiative and starting, no matter how daunting the task may seem.
And I'll give you an example.
In the past, I used to exercise more.
I used to work out quite intensely and often.
And late recently, I've just stopped doing it.
I've really fallen out of the habit.
