Truthfully, I was feeling a little displeased with the writer.
How could you call someone your close friend and at the same time exclude her from your party?
In this situation, the writer must first find out the reason why her friend won't dress up.
According to the team, most of the time, perhaps financial issues are her main obstacle.
The point here is whenever we are required to attend an event which comes with a team or costume, it might not be affordable for everyone in terms of budget and sizes.
Probably her friend couldn't afford to get those clothes most of the time.
