单集文稿 ...

  • Welcome to the A to Z English podcast, where Jack and Sochil take you on a journey from learning the basics to mastering the nuances of the english language.

  • Our podcast is designed for non native speakers who are looking to improve their english skills in a fun and interactive way.

  • Each episode covers a wide range of topics, from grammar and vocabulary to slang and culture, to help you navigate the english speaking world with ease.

  • Hello, it is the english listeners.

  • Today.

  • We have a quick check for you about medical stories.

  • Jack and I are each going to share a medical story, and, you know, just build up some vocabulary for you guys.

  • So, Jack, why don't you kick us off?

  • Yeah.

  • So I have a pretty traumatic medical story that I experienced here in Korea, and this was back in 2005, so it's a long time ago, and I was helping my friend move some furniture.

  • And when you're young, you know, I was probably 26 or 27 years old.

  • I thought I was, you know, Superman.

  • And I picked up this sofa chair all by myself, but I didn't use my knees to lift it.

  • I used my back.

  • And what I did was I injured a disc in my back really badly, and I needed surgery.

  • And I was living in Korea by myself, so my parents and my family and my friends were all back in America, and here I was in Korea by myself with a really serious back injury.

  • And I went to the hospital, and they said, you need surgery on your back.

  • And so I entered the hospital, and it was a very interesting experience because the hospitals in Korea are a little bit different than the hospital situations in America.

  • In this case, I was put into a room, but in Korea, the nurses don't really take care of you 100%.

  • They give you medicine, and they check on you, but your family is supposed to be next to your bed feeding you, you know, helping you use the restroom and things like that.
