Welcome to the A to Z English podcast.
My name is Jack, and I am one of the hosts of the podcast.
And today I am doing a solo episode.
So I'm without social today.
But that's okay because I've got an interesting lesson prepared for you right now.
And what we're going to do is we are going to look at three examples of phrasal verbs that use the verb live.
So three phrasal verbs that include the verb live.
So number one is live up.
To live up to, and to live up to means to meet or fulfill expectations or standards.
So here's an example.
She has always been a talented singer, and she really lived up to our expectations during the performance.
So what that means is she is a talented singer, but maybe she has never performed before.
And so once she did the performance, the performance was so good.
Everybody go.
Everybody said, wow, she really lived up to our expectations.
Like, we expected it to be good, and it was good, so she lived up to people's expectations.
I'll give you another example where we use live up to.
