Example: She has always been a talented singer, and she really lived up to our expectations during the performance. Live on: To survive or subsist by consuming a particular type of food or resource. Example: In college, I had to live on instant noodles because I couldn't afford much else. Live out: To fulfill or experience something in real life, often a dream or fantasy. Example: He always wanted to be an astronaut, and he finally got to live out his dream by going on a space mission.   • And what we're going to do is we are going to look at three examples of phrasal verbs that use the verb live.

  • So three phrasal verbs that include the verb live.

  • So number one is live up.

  • To live up to, and to live up to means to meet or fulfill expectations or standards.

  • So here's an example.

  • She has always been a talented singer, and she really lived up to our expectations during the performance.

  • So what that means is she is a talented singer, but maybe she has never performed before.

  • And so once she did the performance, the performance was so good.

  • Everybody go.

  • Everybody said, wow, she really lived up to our expectations.

  • Like, we expected it to be good, and it was good, so she lived up to people's expectations.

  • I'll give you another example where we use live up to.
