In this episode of The A to Z English Podcast, Jack shares the meanings of three phrasal verbs which all contain the verb "die." Die out: To become extinct or no longer exist. Example: The endangered species may die out if conservation efforts are not increased. Die down: To become less intense or subside, usually referring to a situation or a storm. Example: The protests finally began to die down after weeks of unrest. Die off: To decrease in number or quantity, often used in the context of a population decline. Example: The fish population in the lake started to die off due to pollution.
