In this episode of The A to Z English Podcast, Jack is joined by May, Layla, and Hendrick as they discuss the following Am I the Jerk? situation: Title: AITJ for Giving Healthy Treats on Halloween? I (35F) live in a neighborhood known for its elaborate Halloween celebrations. Every year, I go all out with decorations and create a spooky atmosphere for the trick-or-treaters. However, this year, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of giving out the usual candy, I decided to hand out healthier treats like small bags of pretzels, mini boxes of raisins, and fruit snacks. I also included a small note explaining my choice, saying that I wanted to promote healthier options and reduce the sugar intake for the kids. The reactions were mixed. Some parents appreciated the healthier treats, and a few kids seemed genuinely happy with them. However, others were disappointed, and some even expressed their disappointment loudly. One parent even confronted me, saying that Halloween is supposed to be about indulgence and that I was ruining the fun for the kids. Now, I'm questioning whether I was the jerk in this situation. I thought I was making a positive choice by providing healthier options, but I also don't want to be the Halloween Scrooge who ruins the fun for everyone else. So, AITJ for giving out healthy treats on Halloween? What do you think? Was the person in this situation the jerk for giving out healthier treats on Halloween, or were they just trying to make a positive choice for the kids' health?
