  • You're listening to the A to Z English podcast.

  • Welcome to the A to Z English podcast.

  • My name is Jack, and I have a quick idioms episode for you today.

  • I'm going to give you three new idioms.

  • These are lesser known idioms, and I'll explain and give you some examples.

  • And so our first one is to jump on the bandwagon.

  • Jump on the bandwagon.

  • And the meaning is to join others in doing something that has become fashionable or popular.

  • So, for example, let's talk about skinny jeans.

  • Okay?

  • For a while there, a couple years ago, skinny jeans were really popular.

  • They became popular.

  • That was the new fashion.

  • And people who started looking at more fashionable people, like, you know, models on tv and actors and actresses, famous people, they noticed that those people are wearing skinny jeans.

  • So regular people jumped on the bandwagon and started wearing skinny jeans, too.

  • And so to jump on the bandwagon is to join along with what everyone else is doing.

  • And, you know, it could be a good, it's usually a good thing.

  • You know, you.

  • I mean, people sometimes say, oh, you're just jumping on the bandwagon.

  • You're just following the crowd, you know.
