  • You're listening to the A to Z English podcast.

  • Welcome to the A to Z English podcast.

  • My name is Jack, and I'm here with my co host, Sochil.

  • And today we're going to talk about three holiday idioms or expressions.

  • And the first one is home for the holidays.

  • What does that mean?

  • Social home for the holidays?

  • Home for the holidays means when you go back, usually to your parents home or your hometown for the holiday season.

  • And a lot of people do this because they get several days off for Thanksgiving.

  • And then when Christmas rolls around, we usually get the day before Christmas Eve.

  • Christmas Eve, Christmas, all the way through the day after New Year's off.

  • Right.

  • And because of this, a lot of people just choose to go home to visit their families during the holidays.

  • So that's what that means.

  • Yeah.

  • It's really common for, like, university kids.

  • Right?

  • Like, what do you.

  • You know, all my kids are home for the holidays, you know, because there's always a break during Thanksgiving and Christmas at university, and so.

  • Yeah.
