The Indo Pakistani War of 1971 began as Pakistan launched preemptive airstrikes on eleven indian air bases.
On December 3, 1989, soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and US President George HW Bush declared the Cold War over during a summit meeting on the mediterranean island of Malta.
On December 3, 1992, the Greek Oil tanker Aegian Si, carrying 80,000 tons of crude oil, ran aground in a storm while approaching a coruna, Spain, causing a massive environmental disaster.
On December 3, 1997 in Ottawa, Canada, representatives from 121 countries signed the Ottawa treaty prohibiting manufacture and deployment of anti personnel landmines.
