Dear Jack, welcome to the a to Z English podcast.
My name is Jack and today I have another episode of Dear Jack.
Dear Jack.
Episodes are episodes where listeners will send in emails asking for advice.
And this comes from an english language learner who says, dear Jack, I've always dreamed of becoming fluent in English, but I find myself struggling to stay motivated and disciplined in my language learning journey.
I start with enthusiasm, but after a while life gets busy and I lose focus.
Do you have any tips or advice on how to stay committed to language learning and make it a more enjoyable and sustainable part of my daily routine?
Sincerely, language learner lamenting this is the number one problem that most people face when learning a language, and it happens to podcasters, too.
We call it pod fade.
Pod fade is where you're very excited to start a podcast, but after six months it starts to become a choreography and you lose motivation and discipline.
And so you have to kind of dig deep into your soul if you want to accomplish anything difficult.
But that's obvious.
Everybody knows that.
I'm going to give you a piece of practical advice that I think is actually going to help you remain disciplined and motivated, become part of an online community.
And this is not just an advertisement for my WhatsApp group, but we do have a wonderful WhatsApp group called World English.
You can join the World English group by clicking the link in the show notes for our WhatsApp group.
What I've noticed in the past year is that students who become part of that community and start to make friends with other language learners from other countries, and you're meeting regularly in Zoom classes, and we offer Zoom classes.
You get to choose join the class, we give you a topic, and then you discuss the topic in small groups with other language learners in the group.
In the Zoom session.
Sorry, in the Google Meets session, we use Google Meets, not Zoom.
