Now let's get on with the show.
Welcome to the a to Z English podcast.
My name is Jack and I'm here with my co host social.
And today we are doing a vocabulary spotlight.
We are in or under the vocabulary spotlight and we're going to do three phrasal verbs using the verb give.
So there.
Actually, I have like six here, but we'll do three today and we'll do three in another episode.
So the first one is to give up something.
What is to give up?
To give up means it can either be in the context of, you make a sacrifice.
Like, I gave up eating red meat.
So you kind of gave up something that you wanted in order to reach a goal, usually, or for some purpose or reason.
It can also mean accepting defeat.
Like, I was in this race and everyone was ahead of me and I was way in the back, and so I just gave up.
Yep.
