Hey, this is Dora and welcome to Radiohead Space.
So it's funny how the mind can move on from a conversation, but somehow the conversation doesn't move on from the mind.
Hours later, maybe even days later, the mind is still there replaying it.
What do they mean by that?
Why did I say that?
Maybe I should have said something else.
And suddenly, a moment that lasted maybe 30 seconds ends up taking up the rest of the evening.
I notice this after most social interactions.
Whether it's meeting with my manager or being at a social event,
I find myself replaying things I shared or thinking about how people responded to me.
And if I'm being honest, I consider myself a bit of an awkward person sometimes, especially in conversation.
So those moments, they tend to stick.
Sometimes it happens right after the conversation.
Other times, it's later that night or even the next day, reflecting on everything that was said.
And if the conversation felt emotionally charged or challenging, it can loop over and over again.
I remember being at a work conference not too long ago.
It was one of those environments where you're meeting a lot of new people, doing a bit of networking,
which, I'll be honest, isn't exactly my comfort zone.
I know how to have conversations, but in that setting, I could feel my inner dialogue ramping up,
trying to find the right questions, the right responses, the right way to show up.
