Hello and welcome to NewsHour from the BBC World Service.
We're coming to you live from London.
I'm Leila Nathu.
President Trump has lashed out at the UK and countries across the world who 've been affected by the squeeze
on global oil supplies due to Iran's effective blockade of the shipping channel, the Strait of Hormuz.
He 's posted on Truth Social that they should buy fuel from the US or build up the courage to go to the Strait and,
in his words, just take it.
You'll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, he says.
The USA won't be there to help you anymore.
Just like you weren't there for us.
Iran has been essentially decimated.
The hard part is done.
Go get your own oil.
Well, meanwhile, in the past hour, the US Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth, has been addressing journalists.
He said talks with Iran are very real, active and gaining strength.
If Iran is wise, they will cut a deal.
President Trump doesn't bluff and he does not back down.
You can ask Khomeini about that.
The new Iranian regime should know that by now.
This new regime, because regime change has occurred.
