Donald Trump said he had asked China to delay his much-anticipated meeting with Xi Jinping,
quote, because of the war, and needed to stay in Washington.
Mr Trump had previously suggested suspending the summit after saying China should also help reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
But on Monday, Scott Besant, America's Treasury Secretary,
said that any delay would be only because of logistics.
Mr Trump said America had hit more than 7,000 targets in Iran and,
quote, literally obliterated the regime.
He said America was ready to negotiate.
but that he had, quote, no idea who Iran's leaders were,
claiming that they are all dead and that nobody's seen Mishtabah Khamenei,
Iran's new supreme leader.
