  • Welcome to the LSE Events podcast by the London School of Economics and Political Science.

  • Get ready to hear from some of the most influential international figures in the social sciences.

  • Welcome everyone to the LSE for this hybrid panel event on invisible inputs,

  • gender bias in AI systems.

  • Welcome to those here in the room in the theatre and also to those in the virtual room online.

  • Today's event is one of many happening this week to mark International Women's Day when we take time very deliberately to recognise the achievements and leadership of women and to raise awareness of the work still needed for gender equality.

  • I'm Liz Stokoe,

  • I'm Professor in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Sciences and I'm Associate Vice President for Impact here at LSE.

  • So as usual, following discussions of these kinds, the discussion will last until about 7.30.

  • There'll then be a chance for you in the room and online to ask your questions.

  • So if you're a member of our online audience,

  • you'll be able to submit questions via the Q&A feature at the top left of your screen.

  • Do let us know your name and affiliation,

  • and we're especially keen to hear from our students and alum if you're online as well.

  • So please do let us know.

  • And for those of you who are here in the theatre,

  • I'll let you know around about 7.30 when we're going to open the floor for questions.

  • And if you're a social media user, the event hashtag is hashtag LSE events.

  • We're also recording this event and hopefully before it goes to plan,

  • we'll make it available as a podcast later.
