My name is Anna and today we are heading into the gym to work on our muscles.
This week I'm giving lots of off-the-cuff vocabulary related to different areas of the average gym.
Yesterday we talked about saunas.
Today we're heading into the gym to the weights section to talk about weight training and resistance training.
Are you a gym bunny?
There's a great phrase to start with.
A gym bunny is someone who is enthusiastic about going to the gym.
They are often in good shape and they go regularly.
So are you a gym bunny?
Or are you a casual gym goer?
Do you have a membership and constantly feel guilty that you're not using it enough?
And when you get to the gym you struggle to know what to do.
Surprisingly I'm not very good in the actual gym part of a wider club.
When I go to my club and I head into the gym I don't really know where to start.
I prefer playing competitive sports.
I like to have a goal that's not related to doing reps.
We talk about doing reps in the gym.
That's another item of vocabulary that's quite useful.
Reps are repetitions.
