Jayanta Bhattacharya moved to the United States with his family when he was a child.
After growing up in Southern California, Dr.
Bhattacharya enrolled in Stanford University, where he earned his undergraduate degree,
his master's degree, his M.D., and his doctorate in economics.
and then became a member of the Stanford faculty.
During the COVID lockdown, Dr.
Bhattacharya helped to write the Great Barrington Declaration,
a document that opposed the lockdowns, calling instead for focused protection,
