  • This is The Guardian.

  • What this election has demonstrated is that people are quite sick of traditional politics.

  • I didn't grow up.

  • wanting to be a politician.

  • I'm a plumber.

  • I am no different to every single person here in this constituency.

  • I work hard.

  • That is what we do.

  • How do these political parties adapt to that and, you know, labour?

  • It's a real sort of crisis for them.

  • I think they'll have to do some real soul searching.

  • I think we are moving into an era of multi-party politics.

  • A massive victory for the Green Party in a critical by-election.

  • So is this the end of two-party politics as we know it?

  • From the Guardians today in focus, this is the latest of me, Lucy Hoth.

  • Well, joining me is Hannah Al-Othman, Guardian North of England correspondent.

  • Thanks so much for joining us, Hannah.

  • Literally just off the train from Manchester,

  • where you've been up covering the Gorton and Denton by-election.

  • Have you had any sleep?
