单集文稿 ...

  • Hey English learners, welcome to another phrasal verb episode.

  • I hope you're doing well today and that you're ready to learn two new phrasal verbs.

  • The first one is chip in and the second one is churn out.

  • So first let's define these phrasal verbs and hear an example of each one.

  • Chip in means to contribute money, time,

  • or effort to something that a group of people is trying to accomplish or purchase.

  • For example, I could say, if we all chip in, we can finish the rest of the cleaning today.

  • Here I'm saying that if we all contribute, if we all do our part, we can finish the cleaning.

  • So we're all participating and contributing.

  • some of our own time and effort to the cleaning.

  • So that's chip in.

  • Churn out means to produce large quantities of something very quickly.

  • For example, I could say, it's amazing how many politicians that college churns out.

  • So here I'm saying that that college is constantly producing politician after politician.

  • This happens in the U.S.

  • Certain universities are known for producing many of the future politicians,

  • so they churn out politicians.

  • Okay,

  • so now I'm going to talk about a couple different things and use these two phrasal verbs again and again,

  • and so you can hear them used in different sentences,
