Gwynn was suspended by Labour and then retired due to ill health.
So tomorrow, his old constituents will go to the polls to elect a new MP.
The by-election was called at a terrible time for Kirsten Armour.
with reform riding high in the polls and his approval ratings at an all-time low.
And then just when it couldn't get any worse.
Now breaking news here in the world of politics in the UK.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham says that he has applied to stand in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
His northern nemesis said he would like to be Gorton and Denton's MP.
Stammer was having none of it.
He blocked Burnham's candidacy,
saying it would cost too much money and energy to hold elections for the greater Manchester Merylty,
were Burnham to win the by-election.
