21 分钟Whatever the law says, President Donald Trump is a tariff man.
On February 20th, the Supreme Court struck down some of President Trump's tariffs,
specifically the ones he applied under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act,
fondly known as IEPA.
President Donald Trump responded later that day, announcing new tariffs of 10%.
Then, just a day later, he posted on Truth Social that the rate would go up to 15%.
Why not?
Those tariffs expire after 150 days, so in late July.
And today, in this emergency episode of The Economics Show,
I'm going to ask, where are the tariffs going next?
This is The Economics Show with Simeon Keynes.
I'm joined by the ideal guest for this particular moment,
Mike Froman of the Council of Foreign Relations and former United States Trade Representative.
Mike is speaking to me from New York,
and I should say that we are recording this at 8pm GMT on Sunday, February 22nd.
So timestamp that relative to whatever else comes out from the Trump administration.
Okay, Mike, hello.
Hello, good to be with you.
Okay, so on this show, we always start with a silly question at the beginning,
on a scale of 1 to 10.
