  • On Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, it's not so much we get to talk to celebrities.

  • It's that we get to talk to celebrities about other celebrities like we did with actor Nathan Lane.

  • I remember having to tell George C.

  • Scott that I was leaving the show to do this musical.

  • And he said to me, you're leaving me to do a magic show.

  • Listen to Wait, Wait and the NPR app or wherever you get your podcasts.

  • Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston.

  • The Trump administration is considering its next steps after the Supreme Court struck down a key tariff authority on Friday.

  • NPR's Nina Totenberg reports the justices ruled President Trump exceeded his power under the law he used to impose several trade penalties.

  • Writing for a six-to-three majority,

  • Chief Justice John Roberts said that the Constitution explicitly places the power to impose taxes,

  • including tariffs, with Congress, not with the president.

  • Joining the conservative Roberts and the majority were two Trump appointees and the court's three liberals.

  • Justice Kavanaugh, also a Trump appointee, wrote the principal dissent.

  • A furious and agitated Trump called the three conservatives and the majority unpatriotic and disloyal to the Constitution.

  • fools and lap dogs for the rhinos and the radical left Democrats.

  • And that was hardly the end of it.

  • Trump called the three conservatives disloyal, unpatriotic,

  • and at one point launched into a rant about how the court should have invalidated the election results in 2020.

  • Nina Totenberg, NPR News, Washington.
