The BBC understands that he has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Winzer, he was taken into custody in Norfolk just a short while ago.
He is accused of allegedly sharing confidential information with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
There is a very real possibility that this does actually get worse for the royal family in a lot of respects.
