Hello and welcome back to your English Fiver Day on the English Likernated podcast.
This is a short daily podcast for intermediate to advanced level learners who want to build natural English vocabulary through stories.
My name is Anna and this is week five, day two of our story following Gabriel.
in the Peak District.
Yesterday, Gabriel set off across the moors,
enjoying the wide-open landscape and taking advice from experienced walkers.
Today, the path becomes steeper, the ground more challenging,
and Gabriel learns some very practical phrasal verbs for movement,
direction and decision-making on foot.
As always,
supporting materials for today's lesson are available at www.joineelan.com forward slash plus.
Let's start with a quick snapshot.
Despite the rain, Gabriel decided to press on and climb up the main path.
He's careful not to veer off the trail as he makes for the summit with a group of walkers.
After a well-earned rest, they head back together towards Edale.
Fantastic.
Let's take a look at today's five phrasal verbs.
First we have press on.
To press on means to continue despite difficulty or discomfort.
For example, Even though it was raining, they pressed on.
