A senior official of the Communist Party of China has called for steady efforts to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait ties and advance national reunification.
Wang Huning made a remark at a war conference on Taiwan affairs in Beijing.
He emphasized the need to uphold the Wang China principle and the 1992 consensus,
combat Taiwan separators' forces and oppose interference by external forces.
Wang stressed the efforts to facilitate people-to-people exchanges and to support Taiwan compatriots,
especially the younger generation, who seek to study, work and live on the Chinese mainland.
He also pledged support for Taiwan enterprises and businesses on the Chinese mainland so that people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can share the benefits and opportunities of the Chinese modernization.
