Hi everyone, and welcome back to The Insider.
I'm Zanyminton Beadows, the Economist's Editor-in-Chief.
And this week, we're going to tackle a question that investors across the world are asking,
should you still bet on America's economy?
After all, it's been amazingly resilient.
Despite a year of Trump drama, what from tariffs to attacks on the Federal Reserve,
growth has been strong and broadly financial markets have been pretty abulliant.
And the standard explanation of that is that America's AI boom will outweigh any policy risks.
And I guess in the last few days,
those risks might themselves seem lower now that President Trump has appointed Kevin Walsh,
a Wall Street man, to head the Federal Reserve.
Maybe.
But if you look under the hood, the picture is a little bit more mixed.
And that's what we're going to be talking about today.
And to help me, as always, is Edward Carr, deputy editor.
Very nice to see you here, Ed.
Hi, Zanny.
And back on the show is Henry Kerr, our economics editor.
Very nice to see you, Henry.
Hi, Zanny.
