Hello and welcome back to your English five a day season three on the Elan podcast.
This is a short daily podcast for intermediate to advanced level English learners who want to build natural English vocabulary through stories.
My name is Anna and this is week four, day two of our story following Gabriel in Manchester.
Yesterday, Gabriel made plans to watch England play Argentina in a World Cup quarter-final.
Today, he finally experiences match night and the atmosphere is unlike anything he's known before.
You'll learn five powerful adjectives that are perfect for describing loud, exciting events.
As always,
supporting materials for this lesson are available at www.joineelan.com forward slash plus.
Let's begin with a quick snapshot of what's to come.
As Gabriel heads through the city, the streets are already packed with fans.
Inside the pub, the atmosphere is buzzing, quickly becoming rowdy as kickoff approaches.
When England score,
the celebration feels completely electric and the noise becomes almost ear-splitting.
Alright.
It's time for today's vocabulary breakdown.
If you describe a place as packed, then it's completely full of people.
Or things, but in this case, people.
For example, the pub was packed.
We can describe an event as buzzing, buzzing.
This means it's full of excitement and energy.
