7 分钟Hello and welcome back to your English Five a Day, season three on the Elan podcast.
This is a short daily podcast for intermediate to advanced level English learners who want to build natural English vocabulary through stories.
My name is Anna and this is week three, day four of our story following Gabriel around the UK.
He's been spending some time in Liverpool and yesterday Gabriel lost his way after exploring Penny Lane.
Today he finally finds himself back in the city centre and along the way he experiences just how different parts of a city can feel.

Let's begin, as we always do, with a snapshot of what's to come.
After wandering through some gritty streets,
Gabriel suddenly returns to the hectic pace of the city centre.
The contrast is striking.
One area feels rough and quiet, while another feels immediately welcoming.
Bold Street buzzes with vibrant energy and Gabriel spots an unusual print in a record shop.
The city feels wonderfully quirky.
Alright, it's time for today's vocabulary breakdown.
Vibrant It's a wonderful word.
This adjective means full of life, colour and energy.
You can describe many things as vibrant.
Today we're focused on place, so you might say it's a vibrant part of the city.
Then we have the adjective hectic, which means that something is very busy and fast-paced.
For example, The city centre felt hectic during rush hour.
