Hello and welcome back to your English Fiver Day on the Elan podcast.
This is a short daily podcast for intermediate to advanced level learners who want to build natural English vocabulary through stories and real life English.
I'm Anna.
And this is week one,
day three of our story following Gabriel as he prepares for his long-awaited trip to the UK.
Yesterday he practiced British idioms with Sophie.
Today he turns to something far more practical.
Booking accommodation.
So stick with me and you will learn five essential phrases for booking a trip.
You can find supporting materials for this lesson available at www.joineelan.com forward slash plus PLUS So let's begin
as we always do with a snapshot of what's to come Before leaving France Gabriel sits down to book his hostel in Liverpool and messages the websites chatbot He asks whether there's a slot available for his dates,
wants to know what's included in the price,
and even requests that they hold a room while he double checks his plans.
The chatbot creates a provisional booking, and when Gabriel hears the flexible refund policy,
he finally breathes a sigh of relief.
Okay, it's time to jump in to our vocabulary breakdown.
A slot available.
This means an opening or a space that you can book.
For example, do you have a slot available on Saturday morning?
Next we heard included in the price.
