单集简介 ...

Hundreds of people have attended a vigil in the US city of Minneapolis to protest against the fatal shooting of a woman by a federal immigration agent. The woman, identified in the media as 37-year-old US citizen Renee Good, was shot at close range as she drove her car. The mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey has bluntly rejected the Trump administration's assertion that the agent had shot her in self-defence. Also in the programme: the Lebanese military says it has completed the first phase of its plan to disarm Hezbollah, and the most exciting new species of plants and fungi identified last year, including a spider-eating fungus. • Hello and welcome to NewsHour.

  • It's coming to you live from the BBC World Survey Studios in central London.

  • I'm Tim Franks.

  • Coming up later on the programme, a survey of some very exotic,

  • newly named species of plants and fungi and insight into the mindset of those who search for them and identify them.

  • It's a weird thing about my job is a huge privilege to do what I do.

  • I'm incredibly fortunate.

  • But we also have to deal with this kind of background grief of the things you're working on,

  • the places you've been to, disappearing all the time.

  • More on that in about 40 minutes.

  • We're beginning though with a fatal shooting on the snowy streets of Minneapolis.

  • No!

  • No!

  • Shame!

  • Shame!

  • brief excerpt of a video showing a stationary car being approached by a small group of federal US immigration officials from the agency known as ICE who've just gone out of their own vehicle.

  • The car has been parked at an angle on the road.

  • It looks as if it could be blocking the road.

  • One of the agents tries to open the driver's door.

  • At that point, the car reverses a short distance before trying to drive off.
