  • Hi there, I'm Katrina Perry.

  • You're very welcome to The President's Path here on the BBC's The Explanation Feed.

  • Do follow and subscribe so you never miss an episode.

  • Each week here on The President's Path,

  • we walk back along the latest actions of President Trump and his administration.

  • And this week, what else we're talking about Venezuela.

  • I'm joined by my fellow chief presenter, Sumi Somaskanda,

  • and our White House reporter, Brenda Boozeman.

  • Well, hi guys.

  • It's the first president's path of 2026 and Sumi, you're not with us here in the US even.

  • No, I'm not.

  • I've been this week down in Cucuta,

  • which is the border town between Columbia and Venezuela and obviously with the entire truly remarkable operation to seize Nicolás Maduro and all of the implications for the region.

  • We've had a fairly large BBC team here all week.

  • trying to see what all of that will mean for Venezuela, Colombia, and really the rest of the region.

  • It's been fascinating and also really you can get a sense here that everyone here is also watching what's happening in Washington.

  • That's probably often the case, but especially right now.

  • It seems like much of the world is watching what's happening in Washington, in Florida,

  • in Colombia, in Venezuela, in Cuba, in Greenland, in Iran, Mexico, all over.

  • Brindu, you spent a lot of time in Florida this week.
