It's the Christmas season.
But is C for Christmas?
No, it isn't.
Or it is in English.
But I do think C is for language learning and I will explain that to you later on.
But first of all, let's talk about C for Christmas.
Christmas is an English word.
From the word Christ, which is originally a Greek word.
Christos.
Christos therefore doesn't begin with a C.
And Christus means anointed one, which is the same word as the Messiah,
if you go through the different languages.
We know that when Christ lived, the dominant language in that part of the world was Aramaic,
but the official government language was largely Greek, and the apostles wrote in Greek.
So from these words,
we start to see the kinds of words that are used to express the concept of Christmas in different languages,
and they don't all begin with C, obviously.
But they express different concepts.
