单集简介 ...

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that his army will struggle to fight on effectively if a crunch European summit ends without a solution to an imminent deficit in Kyiv's finances. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has referred to European leaders as "piglets" as he dismissed any peace deal which does not "unconditionally" satisfy Russia's pre-invasion aims. The Russian president is yet to be presented with the latest US-led proposal on how to end the war in Ukraine, after Donald Trump spoke positively about progress made during multilateral talks in Berlin. This week, Lucy is joined in the studio by the BBC’s chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet, security correspondent Frank Gardner, and Europe digital editor Paul Kirby, to answer your questions. Could a plan to redeploy frozen Russian assets crash Europe’s economy? Which competing visions are at play inside the White House as the US ramps up peace efforts? And what would make China speak up on behalf of Ukraine? Today’s episode is presented by Lucy Hockings. The producers were Laurie Kalus and Julia Webster. The technical producer was Mike Regaard. The social producer was Joe Wilkinson. The series producer is Chris Flynn. The senior news editor is Sam Bonham. Email Ukrainecast@bbc.co.uk with your questions and comments. 单集文稿 ...

  • It's 1,394 days since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

  • After talks in Berlin this week,

  • European leaders had rarely been more publicly optimistic about the prospects of an end to the war in Ukraine.

  • Progress had been made on what the Americans called platinum standard security guarantees,

  • leading to President Trump's conclusion that peace was closer than ever.

  • There was no resolution, though, on the issue of territory,

  • and remained unclear whether Russia would countenance anything close to the Article 5-like guarantees being discussed,

  • let alone NATO boots on Ukrainian soil.

  • And before the proposal had even been put to President Putin,

  • he reiterated in no uncertain terms to his own defence ministry that Moscow's pre-war aims would be satisfied unconditionally.

  • So, as the European counterparts he branded piglets flock to Brussels for a key summit,

  • can they apply more pressure with an as-yet-elusive agreement on how to fund Kiev going forward?

  • Our panel are here to answer your questions on this episode of Ukrainecast.

  • Ukrainecast from BBC News.

  • This is a sovereign nation under unprovoked attack.

  • We are ready to finish this war as quick as possible.

  • Russia is not preparing for peace.

  • We are an enemy of NATO.

  • And we'll do whatever is necessary to ensure our security.

  • I don't love it.
