Hello and welcome to News Hour with me, Sean Lay, coming to you live from the BBC Studios in London.
Coming up later in the programme Positive Vibes in Berlin aimed at ending Russia's war in Ukraine.
Now we have an opportunity for a real peace process for Ukraine.
It's still a small seat but there is a real opportunity there.
And we'll also be reporting from Sydney following the deadly attack against the Jewish community there.
exploring the reaction among jihadi groups online.
But we begin this hour with the killing of the Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife,
the photographer Michelle Singer Reiner.
Their son, one of their sons,
has been arrested by police in Los Angeles investigating their killing on Sunday afternoon.
Reiner, whose most recent film is the Spinal Tap sequel,
had spoken of his son Nick's struggle with addiction and long periods spent homeless.
In 2015, the two men collaborated on Being Charlie, inspired by those experiences.
Rob Reiner was 78, known for directing films including This Is Spinal Tap,
The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery and A Few Good Men.
Here he is, discussing his art, interspersed with extracts from his films.
You know, it's nice when people recognize you and all that,
but I mean ultimately the reward is the work.
And if you enjoy what you're doing and you feel that you've accomplished what you set out to do,
that's the reward.
