单集文稿 ...

  • Hello and welcome to the English Like A Native podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you're listening to week 48,

  • day two of your English Fiver Day, the second season.

  • I'm really glad you're here for another daily dose of English vocabulary,

  • English listening and of course a little entertainment.

  • So...

  • Without further ado, let's begin with a snapshot of what's to come.

  • Listen closely.

  • Tyler was so absent-minded that without knowing it,

  • he left his car keys in the ignition when he ran into the supermarket.

  • Realising they were missing,

  • he tried to retrace his steps and began to rifle through his pockets and shopping bags in a panic.

  • When he finally spotted the keys in the ignition, he rushed to grab them before anyone else noticed.

  • Alright, let's dive into the vocabulary now, starting with the adjective, absent-minded.

  • absent-minded.

  • Two words joined together with a hyphen.

  • We have absent-A-B-S-E-N-T hyphen-minded-M-I-N-D-E-D.

  • Someone who is absent-minded often forgets things or does not pay attention to what's happening around them

  • because they're thinking about other things.

  • Now recently I've been a little absent-minded.
