$1 trillion, that's what China is reporting as its trade surplus tonight with the United States.
That is a first, first that it's ever been so big.
It tops anything before.
Trump's massive trade war and his promises to make China pay for it.
I put a 100% tariff on China.
China is paying us a tremendous tariff.
China is going to be paying a lot of tariffs right now.
China is eating the tariffs right now.
China is paying a 140% tariff.
Now, despite Trump's threats and the tariffs of course,
China by that surplus obviously is so far doing okay,
shifting its goods basically to other locales like Europe,
Southeast Asia as ways to get around those tariffs.
American consumers though are starting to pay the price
and that is in part why one indicator is flashing red tonight for the US economy and that is consumer sentiment.
It recently plunged 30%, near an all-time low.
Now,American perceptions of the economy right now are actually worse than during the Great Depression,
which is really incredible to think about.
And yet, here is Trump, President of the United States, over the past few days.
The word affordability is a con job.
