单集简介 ...

Today, a report into almost £11 billion of Covid scheme fraud has found that most of it is beyond recovery. Covid Counter Fraud Commissioner, Tom Hayhoe said that a lack of accountability, bad quality data and poor contracting during the pandemic had led to £10.9 billion being lost to fraud or error. Simon Jack joins Adam to explain where the money’s gone and what, if anything, the government can do to recover it. Plus Baroness Amos, who is leading a review into maternity care in England, has said that she has seen “much worse” things than she had anticipated. Her interim findings of a review launched by the Health Secretary last year, have found evidence of hungry mothers, dirty wards and poor care. Social affairs correspondent Michael Buchanan and lawyer and campaigner Suzanne White join Adam. You can now listen to Newscast on a smart speaker. • Hello, tell you what,

  • I am pumped for the World Cup next summer in North America already

  • because I sat through nearly the whole draw on Friday,

  • which was quite the television experience.

  • Anyway, because we need to get World Cup ready, we're launching our new newscast World Cup gimmick.

  • We would like to find a newscaster from one of each of the 48 countries who are going to the men's World Cup in Canada,

  • the USA.

  • and Mexico.

  • So let us know if you fit the bill.

  • I imagine we'll get plenty of English and Scottish people and maybe Welsh and Northern Ireland,

  • depending on how they do.

  • But we're looking for people from Curacao and other such places.

  • Email us newscast at bbc.co.uk or you can WhatsApp us on 033 0123 94 eight zero.

  • And you can see we're giving ourselves lots of time to find people from less populated countries where newscast is less listened to.

  • Also, we need a name for this, this item.

  • And after the grief we got for not calling old newscast news past,

  • we're going to hand it over to you to come up with some suggestions.

  • So names for our World Cup gimmick are welcome.

  • through the same forms of communication.

  • And also you can contact us through your smart speaker.
