So President Putin was welcomed in Delhi,
where he's to have talks with Prime Minister Modi, focusing on trade and expanding defence ties.
It's the first visit by the Russian leader to Delhi
since he launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
India, like China,
has been a big purchaser of Russian oil and has been accused by the West of financing the war.
But local resident Sanjay Kumar welcomed closer ties with Russia.
In the current global scenario, we are subject to terrorism and other problems,
so it's important to build ties with Russia.
Russia has from time to time helped us.
Therefore,
it's a good move and the defence deal should be signed so that all the latest technology reaches India."
