12 分钟Hello and welcome to the English Like a Nature podcast.
My name is Anna and you're listening to Week 46, Day 5 of your English Fiver Day, the second season.
Today is Friday and that means that we are going to be listening to a story.
A story that brings together all the vocabulary we've been looking at this week.
Now if you haven't heard all of those previous episodes then don't worry.
This story will still be useful as a listening exercise but I must warn you this is a story based on true events and it's a little bit gory.
It deals with an injury so If you're feeling a little squeamish, if you're eating breakfast,
lunch or dinner, and this is not your thing, then now is the time to skip to a different episode.
It's not going to be that bad, it's not horrific,
but it's just good for me to give you a little warning in case you are feeling a little delicate this morning.
Right, without further ado, let me introduce today's story.
Respect the door.
I bet you're wondering how I lost my arm.
Most people assume it was something dramatic, a shark attack,
an explosion in the engine room, or maybe some heroic rescue gone wrong.
The truth, though, is far less glamorous.
It wasn't a shark or a fire or a storm at sea.
It was a door.
A watertight door, to be precise.
And believe me, that thing was every bit as unforgiving as the ocean itself.
