  • The government has approved a supplementary budget for fiscal 2025,

  • accelerating its defense spending to 2 percent of GDP, two years ahead of schedule.

  • Local reports say the defense ministry will receive about 5.4 billion U.S.

  • dollars in extra funding, partly for purchasing new destroyers, submarines and missile systems.
