Japan's faster tracking is military build-up.
The government has approved a supplementary budget for fiscal 2025,
accelerating its defense spending to 2 percent of GDP, two years ahead of schedule.
Local reports say the defense ministry will receive about 5.4 billion U.S.
dollars in extra funding, partly for purchasing new destroyers, submarines and missile systems.
That brings Japan's total defense spending for fiscal year 2025 to more than 70 billion U.S.
dollars.
