This week we are looking at an IELTS speaking part 2 cue card that asks you to speak about disappointing news.
I'll read the cue card to you now.
Describe a time when you received some disappointing news.
You should say what the news was, when and how you received it.
Who gave you the news?
And explain how you felt about it.
Alright, let's listen to the sample so you can hear the model spoken naturally.
Here it is.
We will now start part two of the exam.
Here is your cue card.
Start speaking now, please.
One time I received really disappointing news was when I found out I didn't get accepted into a scholarship program.
This happened about two years ago when I was finishing my final year of university.
I received the news through email.
I remember opening my inbox early one morning and seeing the message from the scholarship committee.
As soon as I read the first few lines, I realized it was a rejection.
They thanked me for my application and said the selection process had been very competitive,
but unfortunately I hadn't been chosen.
