coming to you today from Charleston Literary Festival in South Carolina.
I'm Georgina Godwin.
My guest today has just won the 2025 Booker Prize.
Born in Montreal, raised between Beirut and London,
he studied English at Oxford before finally giving himself permission to become a writer.
A decision that took him across Europe and into the books that have shaped his remarkable career.
London and the Southeast, Innocent, Spring, All That Man Is, Turbulence and Now Flesh.
The novel that's just taken one of the most important global prizes for fiction.
David Sollo, welcome to Meet the Writers.
Thank you very much.
It's great here in Charleston,
I mean last week we were both at the Booker Prize dinner and it was a sort of very very London on a cold rainy Monday night and here we are and it's a glorious weekend in South Carolina.
I know, it just makes the whole thing even more dreamlike.
It's weird, it's just weird.
I mean it's balmy, I've been walking around in a t-shirt all day.
You were born in Montreal,
you then moved to Beirut briefly and later London and I wonder
if you could just sort of take us through that journey in your own words.
Sure, yeah.
