Hey there, this is Myra.
Now,
this week I want to take you back to a program we looked at a while ago that's about getting more adults to be confident readers.
Just to mention, since we first shared the episode with you,
one of the projects we looked at from Bangladesh called Friendship won the International Earthshort Prize this year for some of their work in education.
A massive congratulations to the entire team.
Now,
let's have a listen to this and some of the other ideas we came across on how literacy can change a life.
It's another great week here on People Fixing the World from the BBC World Service
because we get to talk about projects making our world a better place.
I'm Mayra Anubhi and today we're finding out about ways to get more adults to start reading and writing.
really enjoy reading
because it just transports me to a whole new world where I can learn things about people and just life in general.
It also really helps me pass time when I'm on long trips or just on my commute to work.
But reading isn't just a nice thing to do.
It's crucial to everything else in my life.
So for example,
I wouldn't be able to buy stuff at the supermarket because I wouldn't be able to read the labels.
And it would be hard taking medication or helping my children with their schoolwork.
