New Yorkers have elected the left-wing Democrat Soran Mamdani as the city's next mayor,
in what's being seen as a rebuke to President Trump.
During the campaign, the president,
who has returned to the White House a year ago today, branded Mr.
Mamdani a communist and threatened to withdraw federal money.
In his victory speech, New York's new mayor said his win was a mandate for change.
It was one of several good results for Democrats in state and local elections.
