Cutting through an overload of information to get to the heart of the story.
This is The Point.
Promote a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization and build an Asia-Pacific community.
That's the message Chinese President Xi Jinping sent to the world on Friday during a speech at the first session of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders Meeting in Gyeongju,
the Republic of Korea.
He put forward a five-point proposal for realizing this goal.
Now this came on the heels of a much anticipated meeting between him and his U.S.
counterpart, President Donald Trump, in Busan ROK,
which is expected to de-escalate recent trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.
President Xi said during his meeting with President Trump, is ready to work with the U.S.
counterpart to build a solid foundation for bilateral ties,
while President Donald Trump later caught the meeting truly great.
The Chinese leader urged from both sides to finalize the follow-up steps on the basic consensus on trade that they reached a days ago as early as possible.
Now some are calling this a one-year trade truce.
Big welcome news, but not just for China and the United States,
but also for the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
The world is watching and much is at stake.
Hopefully this time no U-turns.
Let's show our responsibilities as major nations to achieve a win-win outcome.
A revitalized China and an America that's great again.
