When Gabriel Sanchez ran for Georgia State Assembly in Smyrna,
a lot of people saw him as a long shot.
Currently, I'm working as a waiter to make ends meet, but I think that this is important.
Tuesday night, Sanchez won his primary against a seven-year veteran Democrat, Terry Enola.
The incumbent Democrat, Terry Enola, was liked by both Democrats and Republicans,
and she'd been doing the work for eight years.
She was also a major supporter of Lockheed Martin, which had a factory in her district.
She voted in favor of a 2021 bill that earmarked $100 million in tax breaks to the defense contractor.
And she lobbied the federal government to grant a lucrative contract to the company.
Meanwhile,
Gabriel Sanchez had TikTok videos of history opposing the police training site in Atlanta,
some very strongly held anti-war opinions,
and a bunch of Democratic socialists of America knocking on doors.
He is actually doing really well in the early learning right now, like,
surprisingly, because the candidate he's going against is like a corporate Democrat.
Like the people we've canvassed, nobody even knows who she is,
because she's just backed by a big money donor.
Between bigger donations from the Home Depot, Uber, and Walmart,
Terry Anilowicz also got a little campaign money from a Lockheed Martin Associated Pack.
But the DSA was excited about Gabriel's chances in this district,
