Hello and welcome to News Out from the BBC World Service.
We're coming to you live from London.
I'm James Menendez.
And we're going to begin today with Venezuela and confirmation from President Trump that he'd authorised the CIA to carry out secret operations there and that the US was now considering strikes on Venezuelan territory.
Over the last few weeks,
the US military has conducted a series of strikes against alleged drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean. 27 people have been killed.
It's also deployed about 10,000 troops to the region and several ships and landing craft.
Well, this is what Mr. Trump had to say on Wednesday.
We are certainly looking at land now because we've got the sea very well under control.
