4 分钟Have you heard how many English speakers say mountain instead of mountain?
Actually, many words have this same sound.
Instead of saying button, we say button.
Instead of saying written, we say written.
So what happens to the T sound in these words?
Well, it becomes a glottal T, as we say.
In this episode, I'm going to teach you how to pronounce this sound like a native speaker.

Okay, what is the glottal T sound and why do many native speakers say mountain instead of mountain.
First of all, let me mention that not all native speakers pronounce it as mountain.
Some native speakers don't use the glottal T in words like this, but many native speakers do use it.
So when do people use this sound?
Well, We use it in different types of words,
but I want to focus specifically on words like mountain, button, and written.
In these types of words, there are two things that cause us to use the glottal T. Number one,
the letter T is at the start of an unstressed syllable, not a stressed syllable.
And number two, the end of this unstressed syllable has an N sound.
But don't worry so much about remembering that.
