From Washington, D.C. This is Lexicon Valley, a podcast about language.
I'm Bob Garfield with the creator of the show,
Mike Volo, who asserts that this is a special episode indeed.
Indeed it is, Bob.
It's been a long time.
How you doing?
Splendid.
Thank you and your own self.
Great.
Great.
The reason this is really special is because it's the first show we've done together in years.
Bob, right?
Years.
We turned over hosting to Columbia University Professor John McWhorter, actual linguist,
fantastic person, but he is lately spreading himself a little thin.
A little thin, like watercolors, like store brand margarine, like the Department of Education.
Yeah, he's got a lot on his plate.
Wow.
That is like the most impressive list of metaphors ever whipped out of someone's pocket.
It got increasingly more depressing.
