Hello everybody, welcome to Roundtable Special Series China Horizons,
where we get out of the studio and go to different places in the country.
In today's episode, we take you to the enchanted land of Xizang,
where every corner tells the story of old tradition and splendid culture.
Today, I am with Lai Ming and Daxing Yu and I am Niu Honglin.
Hello everyone!
Hello everybody!
Great to be here.
And I have to admit, I love these special episodes a bit more than our usual shows,
because I get to ask the question where we are every single time.
Where we are?
We are at a special and a bit mysterious place.
Actually, it's the Jibengang Art Center, located in the heart of Lhasa.
And it used to be an Asian building built in the 19th century, which is Mandela structure.
Yeah, in Chinese,
we translate into a Tan Cheng which we go into the trouble of translating it into English.
It sounds more like a shrine city.
So it's a religious structure obviously and it's also a very important tool for meditation in Tibetan Buddhism.
It's also a ritual object using ceremonies and this building in particular was built in the late 19th century as the Then government was getting ready to fight off invaders from a foreign country.
